Hushpane Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 October 2026

Hushpane is a browser extension that visually blurs sensitive information on web pages before a screen share, recording or screenshot. It has no developer server, no analytics and no tracking.

Page content

Hushpane reads the text of the pages you visit only inside your browser, to find emails, phone numbers, card numbers, API keys, tokens and IBANs. Page text, field values and matched text are never stored and never sent anywhere.

What is stored

Hushpane stores your settings and, for Pro users, saved blur rules (site origin, element selectors, box positions) in browser extension storage. If you use Chrome Sync or Firefox Sync, your browser vendor may sync these settings and rules through its own service. License keys and activation records stay only in the local browser and are not synced.

License checks

If you buy Pro, Hushpane sends your license key, the seller's organization ID and an activation label naming your browser and, outside Firefox, your operating system (for example "Chrome on Windows") to Polar (polar.sh), the payment and license provider, when you activate. At most once a week it also sends your license key, the organization ID and the activation ID to Polar to check that the plan is still active. Polar receives normal connection data such as your IP address. No page content is sent to Polar. Purchases are handled by Polar under its own privacy policy.

What we do not do

We never send page content to us or to anyone else, and we do not sell or share personal data. We do not use data for advertising, credit decisions or any purpose unrelated to blurring. The extension loads no remote code.

Limits

Blur is visual only. The original content stays on the page and can still be copied or inspected. Do not rely on Hushpane as secure redaction.
